Cannot get a VAC truck approved to repair a waterline break now going on 18 days. I have 2" build up of ice at the end of my driveway and I live on a hill.

It was determined 16 days ago that a VAC truck was needed and we cannot get it approved. I call American Water who sends me to American Resources who sends me to American Rooter who is supposed to do the digging.

I received a call from American Resources on 12/24/25 telling me that they approved the truck as a 1 time courtesy and that I would hear from American Rooter to schedule the repair. When I called American Rooter on 12/29/25 they said that they have not heard anything on the approval and are waiting for American Resources. Meanwhile I have the township coming at least once or sometimes twice a day to salt and scrape the ice just so the neighbors can drive on the hill. At one point American Resources said that the solution would be to just shut off our water but since we have hot water heat they could not legally do that.

We are getting nowhere and the neighbors are calling American Water and the township police to do anything to get it repaired.

This is insane! I have seen cars go sideways trying to drive up the hill.

User's recommendation: VAC trucks are not covered under your policy. Save yourself the grief and agree to pay it out of pocket. I spend hours on the phone every day and cannot get anywhere.

On October 14, 2025, I was reviewing my current bank purchases when I noticed an excessive charge from this company. For approximately a year, I had approved a monthly charge of $9.74, but the current charge was $25.20 per month.

This charge was not only excessive, but I never received any advance notification by mail, email, or phone call. The charge was made on October 9, 2025. I called the company on October 15 to address the issue. I spoke with Page, who insisted that the company had notified me.

The only notifications I had received were for additional services they wanted me to accept. I did not accept any other service. This company acts without the consent or approval of their customers. This company is fraudulent in their actions, and I would never, ever do any business with them in the future.

Customer beware! This company is underhanded and acts in a fraudulent manner to overcharge their customers. This company cannot be trusted, and I have notified the BBB.

American Water Resources is an underhanded company willing to exploit their customers. They are willing to steal from you, so watch out.

No Response for My First Service Request - Even After Promising 2-3 Hour Callback

I called again on 10-9-25 and was told I would get a call back, which I never received, nor an email confirmation on my newly created service request. On Friday, 10-17-25, at 3:46 PM, I spoke with Andrew at (855) 705-****, requesting to cancel my service as my first request has not been addressed and for a full refund for the past year! He said he would send another request and I would get a call back within 3 hours. I questioned being called back due to the lateness of the day!

He further added that due to my inconvenience, he would discount my service 50% if I would be willing to not cancel! I still wanted to cancel, but he gave assurance I would get a repair assignment call back!

I agreed! To date, I still have not received a call back!

We solved the issue and changed our checking account to a new account number. Now they can't bill us anymore, the *** It was a hassle, but well worth it. Now we are rid of them forever.

If I could give zero stars I would. DO NOT get sewer, plumbing or waterline insurance from this company.

My husband and I signed up for their Water Line, Sewer Line and In-Home Plumbing Emergency Program in May 2024. We repeatedly asked them to email our policy with all the terms and conditions. They never sent it. Since May we have been unable to login to their website.

Each time we ask about it they say they are having technical issues and their IT department is working to fix it. You can sign up no problem but you can't login to your account for 6 months.

Now we have a plumbing issue with our heater. You can't contact them by phone because the recorded message says the hold time is 20 hours. We used chat to speak with an agent to file a claim.

We sent pictures of the issue and they determined it was covered. They said they would dispatch a plumber and that our fee (or deductible) would be $50. We were told that IF the plumber determined that the issue was not covered, we would be refunded the $50.

The plumber came out and told us our leak is not covered and further shocked us by saying this company repeatedly charges their customers $50 service fees fully knowing that that issue is not covered. They just scam you for $50 and don't fix the problem.

Since we never received our policy we were not aware that they even charge to send a technician.

When we reached out for a refund we were told that the claims agent who filed our claim gave us false information and that the $50 is non-refundable.

They wanted to send a different plumber for a second opinion and charge us another $50. What a scam! We immediately canceled our policy and hope they don't charge our credit card next month for the monthly premium.

If they do we'll have to dispute it. Getting a policy from American Water Resources was a costly mistake.

No one services my area but they have no problem charging me

NJ American Water Company and American Water Resources who sell their Water Line Protection Program, has agreed to pay most of my complaint. I accepted less because they just tired me out calling them, posting BAD REVIEWS and contacted my Congressman trying to get a refund.

They say I will get my reduced refund by 5/16/24. I'm waiting.

Homeowners be wary of dealing with NJ American Water Company. They do NOT make cancellation or refunds easy.

NJ American refuses to cancel Water Line Protection Plan
I paid $12.80/month to NJ American water for years for a Water Line Protection Plan for my home in Strathmere, NJ. When I was notified that the plan cost was increased from $12.80/month to $19.18/month, I called and cancelled it.

I received written notice from NJ American Water of its cancellation. BUT, they won't stop charging me. Its been four consecutive months of over charges. Each month (now its March 2024) when I call NJ American, they say they are not responsible, that I must contact Water Line Protection Plan.
